A 17-Year-Old’s Life Transformed After Complex Spinal Surgery

Elisabed Narsia, a 17-year-old girl has fully recovered and is now embracing an active lifestyle, but… Just last year, she was fighting a serious health battle. In addition to a complex spinal deformity, she also faced significant changes in her pelvic bones.

"Our family’s struggle began three years ago when Elisabed was just 14," recalls her mother. “Doctors initially opted for conservative treatment—therapy, exercises, and massages, but nothing worked. Instead, her condition worsened. Eventually, we were referred to M. Iashvili Children’s Central Hospital and Dr. Irakli Vardzukashvili."

Elisabed underwent a thorough examination at Iashvili Children Hospital. The results revealed a severe third-degree spinal deformity requiring urgent surgical intervention. According to orthopedic traumatologist Irakli Vardzukashvili, a single complex surgery was the best course of action, as multiple procedures were not recommended. The operation successfully addressed both her physical discomfort and the underlying health concerns.

Now, Elisabed is undergoing rehabilitation and remains under periodic medical supervision. She is gradually returning to her normal routine, ready to embrace life to the fullest.
