The Center for Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry offers pediatric patients of all ages examination of the peripheral nervous system and treatment of diseases of any complexity, The center has assembled a team of the country’s leading specialists with Western experience, including neurologists, epileptologists, neurosurgeons, geneticists, pediatricians and critical care specialists. The center also includes comprehensive psychotherapy services.

The center is the only one in the country for pediatric care, offering diagnosis and treatment of rare neurological and psychiatric diseases for patients aged 0 to 18 years. Diagnostic tools include instrumental examinations, including neurosonography, electroencephalogram, arterial pressure monitor and others .

Research tools and specialist consultations enable accurate diagnosis. This is particularly important, as paroxysmal conditions (headaches, seizures, involuntary movements) and developmental issues are quite common in childhood. The center can identify cerebral palsy in children under 4 months. In this regard, Iashvili Clinic is the only one in the country that has developed a diagnostic and management standard, through which cerebral palsy diagnosis is now possible in children under 4 months instead of 12-24 months.

The neurological department includes a team studying neuromuscular pathologies (members of the International Organization for the Study of Neuromuscular Pathologies), which works on rare diseases such as: progressive muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy. Notably, in recent years, medical treatment for these diseases has become possible worldwide. Of the three available medications, two were first used in Georgia at M. Iashvili Children’s Central Hospital.

Regarding the psychiatric directionthe center evaluates children’s mental health using various tests, including: M-Chat, ASQ-3, CAP, Baylay-II, KABC-II tests, which represent globally approved methods .
