An 11-month-old infant was admitted to M. Iashvili Children’s Central Hospital with symptoms of increased intracranial pressure. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large tumor in the brain’s fourth ventricle near the brain stem, with occlusive hydrocephalus.
Despite the patient’s young age, risks of bleeding, and the large size of the tumor, doctors decided to perform complex neurosurgery to save the infant’s life. Neurosurgeons successfully removed the tumor. The post-operative period was also satisfactory. The patient has already been discharged home. The child’s life is no longer in danger.
