Doctor of Medicine and Associate Professor at the Department of Pediatrics at Tbilisi State Medical University, Eka Kandelaki heads the outpatient department of Iashvili Children’s Hospital. Her primary areas of medical and scientific interest include developmental pediatrics, follow-up care for high-risk newborns, premature infant nutrition, and management of rare diseases.
She is a member of the Georgian Respiratory Society, the Board of the Georgian Academy of Pediatrics, the European Respiratory Academy, the Board of the Georgian Association of Neonatologists, and the International Academy of Natural Feeding.
She graduated from the Faculty of Pediatrics at Tbilisi State Medical University and completed her doctoral studies at the Institute of Biotechnology of the Georgian Academy of Sciences. She completed a training course on early childhood development assessment in Great Britain (London, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital).
She has participated in the development and implementation of 18 national protocols, including the development and implementation of national protocols for early childhood development, lead poisoning in children, and achondroplasia management.
Eka Kandelaki is an expert for UNICEF and the Ministry of Health of Georgia on early childhood development and pediatric issues. She is the author and co-author of 107 scientific publications.
