Zaza Khotenashvili heads the ophthalmology department at M. Iashvili Children’s Central Hospital. He has 30 years of professional experience.
He graduated from the pediatric faculty of Tbilisi State Medical Institute and continued his internship training at the National Ophthalmological Center. He advanced his qualifications at several leading clinics. Among them, under the auspices of Surgical Eye Expedition International (USA), he spent 4 years in the United States. Later, he completed clinical training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Since the 2000s, Zaza Khotenashvili has deepened his knowledge in various fields (glaucoma treatment, clinical research of diabetic retinopathy, diabetes course, oculoplastics, laser dacryocystorhinostomy, retinal detachment
and others) in Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Israel, and the United States. He is:
- Co-founder and President of the Georgian Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismology;
- Member of the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismology, representative of Georgia.
- Active member of Surgical Eye Expeditions International;
- Member of the Board of the Georgian Ophthalmological Association;
- Co-founder and Board member of the Georgian Young Ophthalmologists Society;
- Co-founder of the Georgian Optometrists Society;
- Founder and organizer of the Tbilisi International Ophthalmological Conference;
- President of the Georgian Ophthalmologists Association;
Ophthalmologist Zaza Khotenashvili regularly participates in international medical conferences and training programs.
