Iashvili Hospital

Spine Center

The Spine Center at Iashvili Children’s Hospital is a powerful outpatient service, providing pediatric patients with comprehensive capabilities for diagnosing and treating spinal pathologies.

The latest diagnostic methods are used, includingcomputed tomography, X-ray and ultrasound examinations. Taking into account the patient’s age, general health condition and indications, we manage all types of congenital and acquired diseases and traumatic injuries. These include:

  • Congenital and acquired spinal deformities;
  • Traumatic spinal injuries;
  • All types of scoliosis, includingidiopathic, neurofibromatous, post-traumatic scoliosis, congenital and others;
  • Intervertebral disc herniation;
  • Rib hump and torticollis;
  • Kyphosis;
  • Spinal instability;
  • Various coccyx deformities and others.

For treating scoliosis and kyphosis, which are most common in childhood, traditional treatment methods are primarily used, including proper therapeutic exercises, massages, use of corsets and braces, properly planned rehabilitation and manual therapy. Surgical intervention becomes necessary when the degree of deformation exceeds 40-45%.

The Spine Center is staffed with the country’s leading professionals and brings together a team of experienced orthopedists, traumatologists and vertebrologists. The center is headed by Professor, Academic Doctor of Medicine, Irakli Vardzukashvili.
